Starting life as South Cheshire Young Brass, the band first received sponsorship in 1989 when ‘Normid 2000 Brass Band’ and Youth Band were founded. Both bands proved increasingly popular and successful and entered the contesting arena in the fourth section. Working hard under the baton of Dave Newton, the band worked hard in this section and by 1994 had reached the fourth section National Finals.
By 1998 the sponsorship from Normid had altered and the band became known as ‘United Norwest 2000 Brass’, alongside this change of name, the band were playing better and found themselves in the National Finals again, this time in the third section.
1999 saw the band being conducted by Andre Helleur who worked hard with the band until 2003.
The ‘talented Welsh Baton’ of the current MD, Jamie Meredith, began conducting the band in 2004, when the band again reached the National Finals of the third section. Another chance to play in the third section National Finals came again in 2005, at the same time as another change in name, when the band became known as ‘United Co-op 2000 Brass’.
Following the success of Jamie and the band, the band were promoted to the Second section in 2006.
